Victrix Carinthian Landwehr battalion finally finished

 Hi all

Well, it has taken me far longer than I had anticipated to finish this unit. I will note that a new grandchild came on the scene (so cute) which caused me to abandon painting for family fun plus I have had a couple of unpleasant health issues to deal with BUT now I feel a sense of achievement.

I have to add here, uploading this to blogger has been an exercise in frustration. It has taken over half an hour!

Regarding Austrian Landwehr, I must thank Peter for the information in his blog:  https://blundersonthedanube.blogspot.com/search/label/Landwehr which is very informative.

For those who might like some of the art I used for the painting, I add these web finds:

  1. Your Carinthian Landwehr look fantastic! A very welcome splash of color in an Austrian army! Maybe they will fight as well as they look?!
Being just a few years behind you at age 70, some thought about the fate of our collections has certainly occurred to me. Of course, the best is just giving them to a freind or a family member who is a gamer. After that, they certainly can be sold through a variety of brokers, websites, or on Ebay. It's probably wise to include instruction as to the disposition of our collections in our wills or instructions included with same. The last thing anyone of us want is to see have toys wind up in the dumpster after we pass on!

    1. Coming from you Peter that is high praise, thank you and yes, they contrast well against the sea of Austrian white. I often winder how the nations that chose white as their uniform kept them clean on campaign.

Hopefully, the need to pass on my figures is a few years yet, I want to enjoy them for as long as I can. Sadly, I don't have anyone to game with which is why I spend more time setting them up in dioramas on my table just for my enjoyment.

I was put on to this site here in Australia for selling wargames stuff: https://thewarlibrary.com.au/ also, of course, there are Hinds and eBay. I would rather give them away trhan see the hours and hours of work let alone the cost sent to the tip.

  2. Lovely work Chris. Sorry to hear about your health issues, but congratulations on the new grandchild. Three of ours are turning one within the next few weeks and the other is five next month. It has been an exhausting year, which is why I'm still struggling to find time to catch up.

  3. Hi Lawrence, I am getting over the health issues that are temporary (virus & injury) so all OK there. As my GP says, I am lucky to have made it to 73 and still be as good as I am.

My grandkids are in Adelaide so we don't have the constant in person contact we would have if we lived nearby. Three kids turning one, goodness they are/will be a handful!

Love to get that coffee sometime just to meet someone who understands our hobby.

    Chris

    1. Thank you so much Iain, the Landwehr might not be 'exciting' units but I do like to have an eclectic variety of figures. Do you have any heads you could swap for standard line units to use existing figures?
