Help needed - again

 Hi all

I am seeking some help again. I am re-cataloguing all my figures starting with the Austrians and have come across anomalies between different sources on the unit names and facing colours of the Austro-Hungarian army (Infantry and cavalry) circa 1809-1813. Does anyone have a definitive source that they can send me please?

Meanwhile, here are some photos of my Austro-Hungarians on the wargames table. Not all my figures are here as some are in mini dioramas in a display cabinet. The majority of the figures are Hinchliffe and painted in the 1970's.

  1. Peter at Blunders on the Danube has some good summaries mixed in with his other posts on the Austrian Army. It might help straighten out a few of these anomalies.

    1. Hi Lawrence, thank you for the reference to Peter's blog. I based my Austrian regimental facing colours and titles on Liliane & Fred Funcken's 'Arms and Uniforms of the Napoleonic Wars (Pt 2). Peter's info is very useful (not just for this query). Unfortunately, Osprey publications are a bit expensive here in Australia but I keep looking for second hand editions available locally.

  2. Lovely Kaiserlicks! I have quite a few sources on the subject, but I think the most reliable is probably the series authored by Enrico Acweri. This site has good swatches trying to recreate what the facing colors actually looked like. https://deepfriedhappymice.com/html/ref_sy_aus_inf_facings_1809.html

  3. Hi Peter thank you for your kind comment, your figures/blog would have been lovely to have as a reference when I painted them with Humbrol back in the 1970's. Thank you for the colour chart which I have bookmarked for reference. I, sadly, could not find any Enrico Acweri Austrian uniform books for sale as the reviews I read are very positive.
